How to restore a backup from a recovery point at R1Soft Backup

BY FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS ON THIS ARTICLE, ALL DATA CURRENTLY STORED AT YOUR SERVER WILL BE PERMANENTLY ERASED. PLEASE KEEP A BACKUP IN CASE YOU NEED THEM, BEFORE PROCEEDING FURTHER.

In this article, you will learn how to restore your server to a previous state with R1Soft Backup from a selected Recovery Point.

 

Initially, you will have to configure the Bare-Metal Restore Manager with the Tool R1Soft BootCD Agent ISO, by following the instructions below.

 

  • Log in to MassiveGRID's Secure Customer Portal (https://portal.massivegrid.com/clientarea.php)

 

  • Go to menu Services > My Services.

 

  • Select the server you want to restore and navigate to “Manage/Stats” Tab in order to proceed with the ISO selection.

 

 

  • Select the CD/DVD Disc Image File: Tool R1Soft BootCD Agent.

 

 

  • Open the noVNC console by navigating on the right sidebar under the “Actions” Tab, click on the commands button and select Reset.

 

  • At the boot screen press ESC & choose the 2nd option "DVD/CD" by pressing “2”.

 

  • After loading you should see the red ASCII-art R1Soft logo, very short help screen, and the r1soft shell.

 

 

  • Type ifconfig and press <Enter> to verify that your IP address has been assigned to your network card.

 

 

  • Type sudo /etc/init.d/cdp-agent status and press <Enter> to verify that the Manager is running.

 

 

Now, you are ready to launch a bare-metal restore from your R1Soft Panel by following the instructions below.

 

  • From MassiveGRID's Secure Customer Portal choose your R1Soft Agent Service and Log In To Control Panel.

 

 

  • Select the Protected Machine you want to restore and from the Actions tab select Open Recovery Points.

 

 

  • From the Recovery Points choose your preferred and from the Actions tab select Bare Metal Restore.

 

 

  • Follow the Bare Metal Restore Guide in order to:
  • Select the Filesystems you want to restore.
  • Select the Host.
  • Select the Storage Configuration.
  • Map the filesystems to devices on the target host.
  • Select the Restore Options.

 

 

  • After completing the above guide, on the "Summary" page, you will need to confirm the selected Bare-Metal Restore options. Each selected filesystem is listed, along with the name of the target device it is being mapped to.

 

 

  • Click "Restore" to start the Bare-Metal Restore task.
